Pierna en la Piedra Fall 2009

This is my final project for my sculpture class. I began with the concept of integrating something from nature with something industrialized. This is partly a study of anatomy because I have an interest in figurative form. I constructed the work out of 1/4" steel rod for the muscle and tendon structure and sandstone rock from SE Montana for the internal bone structure.

Absurd Gloves Fall 2009

This is a sculpture project exploring the poetics of futility and the absurd. Each pair of gloves has ten fingers, but no combination has the expected five fingers per hand. Instead each is either nine and one, eight and two, seven and three, or six and four. They are designed after the yellow chore glove I grew up using and are made with flannel and canvas. The gloves are mounted on cast plaster hands, which are bolted to a wood shelf.
